Find me on
The night before this La Jolla private estate wedding reception, Sarah and Drew held a more formal wedding at Rancho Valencia. If you haven’t seen that blog, it’s a must see! Today’s blog shares scenes from their more laid back reception at a friend’s private estate in La Jolla. I loved the carefree spirit of the evening which was strongly reinforced by the performance of Drew’s friends’ indie pop band called Pop Club.

La Jolla Private Estate Wedding Reception
Sarah and Drew welcomed around 100 guests for their reception. It was a larger event than the previous night’s celebration. It was a joy to capture the couple mingling with their friends and family. I adore photographing candid moments, which were the priority of this day’s events. This day’s attire was upscale casual to semi-formal. Sarah rocked a strapless feathered jumpsuit that totally fit the vibe of the evening. I was obsessed with it!

The First Dance
Drew and Sarah approached the dance floor from opposite corners to meet in the middle for a choreographed piece. It was incredible and everyone loved it! After their dance, they encouraged guests to join them on the dance floor. Some dancing ensued before a surprise guitar performance by Drew followed by a casual dinner catered by Miho Catering.

Toasts and Cake Cutting
Sarah’s father, Sarah’s bridesmaid, and Drew’s groomsman all gave beautiful toasts to the couple. I noticed there were fireworks off in the distance and you can peek a little of them in the background of the toasts! After toasts, the couple cut their cakes – one vanilla and one chocolate. They put on a lively show for their cutting that was super cute!

Thank you to Drew and Sarah for having me photograph both of your amazing wedding events. I am so glad these events finally happened after so many Covid postponements. It has been an honor to be your photographer!
