Find me on
This romantic wedding at La Valencia features gorgeous blues and ocean blues. Megan and Nick, who currently live in Texas, have a shared history in San Diego. In fact, they got engaged right on the cliffs of La Jolla, so it was only fitting they and 24 of their closest friends and family fly back to San Diego to host their wedding at La Valencia.
Venue Views and Pretty Blues
Stunningly pink, La Valencia has a beautiful water view with the most chic landscaping. Letting the pink of the property hold its own, Megan chose a palette of grey and various blues for her stationery, flowers, and reception details. The invitations were printed on soft cotton paper with hand torn edges. Navy blue calligraphy accented the papers of the suite as a nod to the predominant color of the ocean.

Megan got ready with her mother and her best friend over mimosas. Since there were only three people in the room, everyone was so calm and relaxed without the chaos of a typical bridal room. Goals, right?

First Look
On a quiet patio at La Valencia, Megan and Nick had their first look. Nick adored Megan’s gown and was grinning from ear to ear once he saw her. I love moments like these. Capturing emotion is absolutely a cornerstone of my work, which is why I find the first look to be a no-brainer as it always results in beautiful moments.

Portraits at the Beach
As gorgeous as La Valencia is, the ocean is too close not to venture to it for portraits. Megan and Nick braved a tricky walk onto the rocks of the low tide shore. The result was phenomenal. We had such perfect lighting for these ocean portraits!

La Valencia Ceremony
For the ceremony, wild and organic arrangements with blue, ivory, and green flowers formed an asymmetrical backdrop on La Valencia’s intimate El Jardin space. Who wouldn’t want to have their wedding at La Valencia with these views!? Chic bistro chairs provided seating for their 24 guests and were introduced by two beautiful floral arrangements on both sides of the aisle.

La Valencia Reception
Guests were led up to a private patio for the reception where one long table fit perfectly in this intimate space. Pink walls and the black and white stripe curtains framed the romantic and dreamy setting. Lush ivory, blue, and pink flowers fully filled the long table alongside blue and crystal glassware. The dinnerware from Hostess Haven included a dinner and salad plate in a soft grey tone paired with a matching grey napkin. An ivory hand torn menu with navy calligraphy wrapped in twine accompanied a sprig of rosemary for each guest. To complete the romantic and dreamy atmosphere, navy taper candles set the tone for the laid back evening.
