Anyone who knows me, could tell you that I’m in love with ballet. If you’ve ever been to my office, you’ll know I have a pair of pointe shoes resting on a dresser as decor. That’s why today’s Darlington House wedding inspiration shoot has a special place in my heart.

Danielle of Classically Lovely Events is, too, fond of ballet and also of France. Both of us share a love for art history, which is actually Danielle’s college major, so a Degas ballet themed wedding was a perfect project to collaborate on this summer. If you aren’t familiar with Degas, he is a French painter who often painted the movement of ballerinas. It’s very likely that you’ve seen a reprint of a Degas piece of work at some point.

Leah, of Bespoke, designed one of the most beautiful and dreamy bouquets I’ve ever held. I love how large it is and that even with its grand size, it’s still soft and feminine. The Dress Theory was kind enough to lend us their luxury gowns for this shoot. I love working with these ladies. They have the best pieces.

We had two looks for our model. The first was a little more free-spirited, so Erin from Unveiled Bridal Beauty and Jaclyn from Blush and Adore opted for a sweet pink lip and a big braid with a jeweled headpiece. The gown is actually a two-piece blouse and skirt, which is super unique and a little more European in style.

Loren, of FourThings Paper, painted with watercolor for many of these invitation suite pieces. The torn edges create a beautiful memory of organic painter’s canvas.

CC Vintage Rentals and Not My Dish helped bring the tablescape to life with their delicate furniture and tableware. These pieces couldn’t be better suited for the painterly design.

Sweet as Bliss created this gorgeous three tiered cake and these elegantly-painted blue macarons. She truly made the desserts with such a perfect representation of Degas paintings.
