5 Reasons Why You Should Have Wedding Photographer Consultations

It’s engagement season and you’re probably starting or beginning to start your wedding photographer search. A big part of that search should include meeting your favorite potential photographers. Today I’m giving you 5 reasons why you should have wedding photographer consultations. They’re so important and very worth taking the time out of your schedule!

5 Reasons Why You Should Have Wedding Photographer Consultations

1. Personality Match

It is important to make sure that you and your potential wedding photographers’ personalities mesh well. This is the one vendor that you’ll spend the most time with before and during your wedding day. Ensuring that you choose a photographer you click well with is key to having a very comfortable and fun wedding experience.

2. The Experience Matters

Your wedding photographer consultations should be informative and delightful. Some questions to consider: Did they look professional? Did they offer you a beverage upon arrival? Did they seem interested in you and your fiancé, asking questions and the like? Did they explain their wedding experience and show you their work in print? Did they send you home with anything? Did they send you a follow up email? Did they make the booking process clear?

3. Quality of Work

Wedding photographers should and always do show their best work on their websites. And why wouldn’t they? It’s a great indication of the overall quality of work. However, it’s always a good idea for you to see a wedding album in person to see what one single wedding looks like. You’ll also be able to tell the quality of their album designs.

4. Learning about You

Your wedding photographer should want to learn about you as much as you want to learn about them. By learning about your personalities and interests, your photographer can better understand how to photograph the two of you in a way that represents who you are.

5. Building Trust

One of the most important reasons you should have wedding photographer consultations is to build trust with your potential photographers. Trust becomes a crucial element in your images because without it, you might not realize that when your photographer asks you to lay on the ground that they have an incredibly epic image in mind.

When you have trust in your photographer, you are essentially allowing them to be as creative as possible and make some truly remarkable art for you.
