Find me on
Chances are when someone says the words “perfect honeymoon” your mind flashed to images to pristine, white beaches, bright blue skies, and turquoise, clear water. Beach or island vacations are great spots for a honeymoon. Lounging on a beach is a great way to recover from all the chaos and stress of planning a wedding.
Staying at an all-inclusive resort is also easy to budget for since there are no hidden costs or fees associated with your stay. Finally, beaches provide the most fantastic backdrop for breathtaking honeymoon photos. Where are the most photogenic locations for your honeymoon? Read on to discover which islands will provide the perfect backdrops for your honeymoon.

Antigua
There must be a good reason that Antigua has been voted the world’s leading honeymoon resort. Feel the cool breezes as you walk along the Dickenson Bay beach. Enjoy every type of water sport in the calm ocean waters. Receive superior service as you lounge by your resort’s pools. Antigua is the perfect spot to celebrate the beginning of your lives together. Travel to this exotic location in the Caribbean for some of the best photo backdrops in the world.
Bahamas
Girl, get your hair braided, say “yes” to another Bahama Mama, and watch the sunset with your spouse on any of the Bahamans islands. Enjoy the calm, turquoise waters while exploring fantastic coral reefs. Whether you are a laid-back snorkeler or an adventurous diver, you will not be disappointed with the views off the coast of any of the islands. Look for shells in the early morning and watch the sunset in the evening from this beautiful island location.
Barbados
Enjoy the calypso beat while exploring Barbados. Nature-lovers will be amazed to see monkeys in their native habitat. Take photos overlooking the rocky cliffs as well as on the beautiful white beaches. Go spelunking in Harrison’s Cave after you and your love take a stroll in the rainforest. The Indian Ocean waves offer something for everyone depending on which coast you visit. If you are adventure seeking, you will want to visit the east coast where there are competition-sized waves. If you and your spouse instead would like to take walks on calm shores, visit the west coast of the island. Good pics are guaranteed anywhere.
Jamaica
Known as the birthplace of reggae music, you will know that you have arrived in Jamaica as soon as you hear the melodies of the steel drums. Enjoy not only the reef-lined beaches with your new spouse, but also explore the rainforests and mountains that Jamaica has to offer. If you are looking for the perfect time to take photos, plan to wake up early. The best beach photos in Jamaica occur up to four hours after sunrise. Not only is the light softer during that time of day, but the beaches will be empty as well. Bring your selfie stick to get frame-worthy photos of your special trip.
St. Lucia
One of the most dramatic photo backdrops is a waterfall. If you are seeking drama in your photos, head to St. Lucia to photograph the 15-meter-high Toraille waterfall. St. Lucia is also known for its volcanic beaches and incredible diving spots. Make sure you bring your underwater camera to capture the below-the-surface views of your adventure.
Puerto Rico
Visit Old San Juan and the old fort to get photographs of you and your spouse near stony facades overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Travel to the island of Puerto Rico to explore the rainforest. Maybe you and your honey will get caught in one of the quick afternoon warm rains as you walk through the trails. Sip on a pina colada as you watch the waves crash onto the beach. U.S. citizens are not required to have a passport when visiting this island location.
Grenada
Take photos of the picturesque Granada coastline as you go out on a fishing or sailing expedition. Dubbed the Spice Isle, Grenada is also home to many nutmeg plantations. Make sure you book a snorkeling excursion. Grenada is the perfect place to view coral reefs from atop its clear, shallow waters.
Hawaii
There’s no wrong way to visit Hawaii. While some enjoy island hopping from a cruise ship, others prefer to pick one island to explore. When you visit Hawaii, make sure you get in costume. Go to a luau on a beach in traditional Hawaiian wear. Embrace the fresh leis and enjoy the sweet floral fragrance as you wear the decorations around the island. Take plenty of photos of your spouse with colorful flowers as the backdrop as this is one of the most photogenic locations for your honeymoon.
Even though all of these locations provide excellent photo-taking opportunities, don’t forget to put your phone and camera down for at least a day or two and enjoy living in the moment. And if you haven’t seen my own honeymoon photos, you can find those here.
