Find me on
I cannot even begin to describe how excited I am to share my interview with Kathryn Budig with all of you. Kathryn is a world-renowned yoga instructor and author with an incredible spirit. I interviewed Kathryn on what she thinking staying healthy and fit before your wedding means and the answers are incredible.
Kathryn was also kind enough to share a few images from her wedding (note: I did not photograph her wedding, although I wish I had :-) All images from Kathryn’s wedding are iPhone shots she was kind enough to provide me with).

1. When and where did you get married?
Oct 17, 2014 in Charleston, SC.
2. What does staying healthy and fit mean to you?
It means respecting your body—working hard when the light is green and knowing when to rest when the light is red. It’s all about balance, discipline and respect.
3. How did you achieve/maintain this in the months leading up to your wedding?
I actually hurt my shoulder a month out before the wedding, so was forced to totally change up my normal routine. I went from circuit training and yoga to long walks and runs on the elliptical. As far as eating, I did a 10 day reset purification (a cleanse that involves food from Standart Process) to feel my strongest. Aside from that, I kept my diet the same.
4. Any favorite healthy snacks? What about guilty pleasure snacks? Or drinks?
A smoothie is always a great healthy snack–I can fill it with good omega oils, protein powders and other magical healthy dusts. I don’t really believe in guilty pleasures—just pleasures. Food is meant to be enjoyed, so I never waste any time feeling bad about something I eat.

5. What’s the best piece of advice you could give to brides-to-be about preparing their mind and body for their wedding?
This event is about you and your partner—not how you look. Prepare yourself for the party of a lifetime where you celebrate your love and all the people that are the most important to you. Don’t waste any time or stress trying to be something that you aren’t—you’re already beautiful and perfect, so just be healthy, take care of yourself and enjoy the special day and all of the preparations!

A huge thanks to Kathryn for taking the time out of her crazy busy schedule to share her thoughts on staying healthy and fit before your wedding. Kathryn is also the founder of Poses for Paws, an organization created as a way to repay the love that animals bring into our lives.
