Weddings are a special time for not only the couple but also for their family. Many of my YouTube subscribers have asked how to include family in your wedding and wedding planning. If your boundaries allow for it, it’s important to make sure that everyone feels included and valued during this special time. Here are some ways to make sure that your family members feel included in your wedding and wedding planning.

Including family members in the planning process
One way to make sure that your family members feel included is by involving them in the planning process. This can be as simple as asking for their input on certain aspects of the wedding, such as the menu or the music. You can also assign them specific tasks, such as helping choose between one type of greenery for the floral arrangements.

Inviting family members to participate in the wedding ceremony
Inviting one or some of your family members to participate in the wedding ceremony. Have them give a reading during the ceremony, ask them to be a flower girl if they are young enough, etc. If perhaps your mother is an excellent singer, ask her to sing a song that is sentimental to you and/or your partner.
Host a family-only event
Consider hosting a family-only event. This could be a pre-wedding dinner or a brunch the day after the wedding. This will give you and your family members a chance to spend quality time together and will make them feel like they are a special part of the wedding celebration.

Incorporating family traditions
Finally, you can make your family members feel included by incorporating family traditions into the wedding. This could be a special dance or a family recipe that is served at the reception. This will make the wedding feel more personal and will show your family members that you adore their traditions.
Including your family in your wedding and the planning process can be as small as asking them to help choose the stamps for your invitations or as large as asking dad to be a groomsman. By involving them in the planning process, inviting them to participate in the wedding ceremony, having a family-only event, and incorporating family traditions, you can make sure that your family members feel like they are an important part of your special day.
