Find me on
If you’re wondering how to choose the best month to get married in, I’m here to help. There isn’t one right answer! It’s highly personalized based on your values and location. A couple in New York might have a “best month” that is totally different than a couple in San Diego, for example.
That said, there definitely might be some months that are not at all ideal. August in Florida would certainly not be a good time of year to get married unless every wedding event is taking place indoors and you do most of the portraits inside as well.
So, how are you going to decide how to choose what month to get married in? There are a few things to consider.

Weather
You need to consider how cool, hot, rainy, etc. it is in your wedding city in each potential wedding month. If you’re set on saying “I do” outdoors, do not choose a notoriously rainy month. If you want to wear a huge long sleeve ballgown, summer might not be a good choice for you.

Sunset Timing
Check the timing of the sunset for your wedding city and the potential time of the month you’re considering. In America, winter months have a much earlier sunset which means you need to complete portraits much earlier if you want them taken in natural light. Usually that means you must set your ceremony earlier and/or have a first look. Late spring and summer months have a later sunset which allows for more flexibility for your timeline.
