How We Chose Our Wedding Planner | Wedding Planning Series

If you’re wondering about our wedding plans, today I’m sharing how we chose our wedding planner! After David and I got engaged, there wasn’t much of a question who I wanted to hire to design our wedding. Being in the industry, I knew that the design package from a planner would be the most important factor in hiring them.

Our wedding is non-traditional in many ways, which I’ll reveal eventually, and doesn’t need as much planning or coordinating compared to most weddings. This allowed me to focus my “search” on planners whose designs spoke to my heart. The thing is, though, I never really had to do much searching. I knew who I wanted the minute we moved to San Diego. When someone’s work speaks to you so deeply that you can’t imaging your wedding without them, you should hire them without a second thought.

Before I reveal who we hired, I wanted to take a minute to talk about the tough side of planning as someone in the industry. I like to make everyone happy, so it’s hard for me that I can only hire one person. I’ll admit, part of me feels guilty for not hiring friends who reached out or even other vendors I’ve been dying to work with. I always feel like I owe everyone everything, but then I come back down from my moment of panic and realize that you have to do what’s right for you and your style.

I LOVE my friends and their work, but I’d had my heart set on our planner for years and there wasn’t much that would have changed my mind. So to my planner friends reading this, know that I love you and that if I could have 20 weddings and hire all of you, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Amorology

For those of you curious readers, we’ve hired the magical Heather of Amorology to design our wedding as our planner for our San Diego wedding. If you’re not familiar with her work, I guarantee you that you’re about to go down a beautiful rabbit hole of researching her designs. You won’t find many other people in the industry who does weddings quite like her.

Stay tuned for the next installment of my wedding planning series on how we hired our florist!
