Find me on
Last week, I revealed who David and I chose as our wedding planner/designer and why. Today’s post focuses on who and how we chose our florist. Like I mentioned last week, choosing vendors as a vendor is easy, but aso very difficult because I want to hire everybody but can only choose one. I almost envy the brides who don’t have a clue which vendors are out in the world. Although they have to work harder to discover great vendors, their choice is probably a little easier!
If I’m being totally honest, I didn’t care one bit about flowers until my second year of shooting weddings. Yes, you read that right. I did not care about flowers. Over the years, they’ve grown on me and now I adore ranunculus and farm roses, especially. I love organic arrangements that are just refined enough to keep them from looking too wild and I adore gorgeous pops of color among creamy neutrals.
Compass Floral
Who better to execute that style than Taya of Compass Floral? Taya does beautiful work and her arrangements are full of life. I am so excited to have her do the flowers for our April 2019 wedding in Del Mar (there’s your first hint about our venue).
We decided to opt for low centerpiece arrangements in keeping with a more modern and fine art aesthetic. I will be carrying a very big and beautiful bridal bouquet. I couldn’t resist adding a large and in charge bouquet with trailing ribbons to our order! We’ll also have dessert table and escort card table arrangements and possibly even a floralized chandelier. Very excited for all of the possibilities that our venue will allow for!
