WEDDING PLANNING ADVICE VIDEOS
Many brides, while wedding dress shopping, worry about their dress complementing their venue. Specifically, they’re often asking “Does your wedding dress need to match the venue?” My answer: Not at all!
You’re the Focus of the Photos
The majority of the wedding photos won’t be wide scenic shots. The focus is typically on the couple with head to toe filling the frame, as well as even tighter crops. Even in those wider shots, it won’t feel jarring to see a bride wearing a ballgown in a field setting. You’ll just see a beautiful bride wearing a dress she loves.
Don’t skip saying yes to the wedding dress you love just because it doesn’t “match” the aesthetic of the venue building and surrounding landscape. As someone who’s seen countless weddings, I’ve never thought “her dress clashes with the venue.” Not once in over a decade.

Styling & Flowers
Let’s say you’re still not convinced. Perhaps you plan to host a ballroom wedding and have your sights set on a more casual dress or a whimsical wedding with a satin ballgown. You have to be willing to be ok with that. Love your gown!
To make the dress feel less contrasted against your venue or even your theme, how you style your hair can make a huge difference. Need to make your overall look less traditional or formal? Opt for a more whimsical curled hair style rather than glam waves, for example.
Tell your florist your dilemma and have them make a bouquet in a style that helps blend your dress and venue. They can make it more rounded for a more traditional, ballroom style or create a very loose, organic bouquet that feels more laid back.

Ultimately, don’t let a concern for matching your wedding dress and venue deter you from saying yes to a dress that makes you feel like your best self. Choose what speaks to your heart!
