Jeanie and Kaveh met on Coffee Meets Bagel, a dating app that has the cutest name ever. Their interactions and obvious love for each other are just about as playful as that name and had me constantly in awe of their natural body language and the way they hold each other. Kaveh and Jeanie’s Thomas F Riley Wilderness Park engagement session took me north to Orange County where we explored landscapes akin to those I grew up with in the South.
I must take a minute to talk about Kaveh. It’s not uncommon for grooms to seem a little disinterested in or really stiff for their engagement session, but that wasn’t Kaveh at all. He was probably one of the most excited grooms I’ve ever photographed. Usually it’s just my brides who are this exuberant, so I was thrilled when Kaveh and Jeanie were both so ecstatic, relaxed, and quickly trusting of the camera for their engagement photos. When I’m working with a couple where they’re both this into the session, I always feel that the images end up so much more authentic and beautiful!
Jeanie absolutely had rocked all of the outfits she picked out for the session. This bride-to-be organized the perfect jewelry to go with each piece of her wardrobe. That is exactly the intentional effort I love seeing my couples put into their engagement looks. It makes a huge difference in the final photos to take the wardrobe seriously.
Let’s not skip over the backgammon set they brought to their session. Jeanie and Kaveh love to play together and knew that wanted to bring that pastime into their engagement photos. A significant proponent of genuine and authentic imagery, I always think it’s amazing when couples can include bits and pieces of who they are in their photos.
We saved the rolling hills of the park for last and I’m so glad we did. You can’t beat the jaw-dropping combination of gorgeous light and an epic landscape. The end result is just as sweet as Jeanie and Kaveh.
