Find me on
A couple of months ago, one of my dear floral friends, Taya of Compass Floral, referred me to her sweet childhood best friend, Alyssa, whose romantic Newport Beach engagement photos I’m sharing today. And yes, there is Compass Floral magic included in the session! Since Alyssa and Austin’s home is a very special place where they got engaged and where their dogs could be a part of the shoot, we decided to have part of the shoot there and I am so glad that we did.
At-home engagements are becoming more and more popular as a way to infuse personality into these photo sessions. Especially when a couple’s home is this gorgeous, these are such awesome locations. To start the session, Alyssa and Austin shared a glass of the wine in their backyard sitting in the exact spots they were in when Austin proposed. How amazing is that!? Having chosen such a casual, relaxed atmosphere for the proposal, Austin completely took Alyssa by surprise when he asked her to marry him.
After cozying up with their dogs in the backyard, Austin and Alyssa changed outfits for our next adventure in Newport Beach. A charming restaurant where they had their first date and where they eat on every anniversary, The Beachcomber was our magical sunset portrait location. With the most magical light and a gorgeous mega bouquet, I was totally in heaven. There’s little more romantic than enjoying a sunset at the beach and when that romance is between two cuties like these, it’s just too good.
Alyssa and Austin, I loved hanging out with you two and your pups in Orange County. I absolutely cannot wait to see you two again for your wedding in Santa Barbara next summer. I know it’s going to be such a perfect day for your winery wedding!
