Taken two mornings before their extremely gorgeous wedding (coming to my blog in a few weeks!), Laura and Michael’s Mission Beach engagement session couldn’t be any dreamier. This bride and groom are both incredibly sweet and expressive people, who looked absolutely stunning in the soft light from the overcast morning sky.
With San Diego being a destination for Laura and Michael, I suggested walking from the Catamaran, their hotel and wedding venue, north to the pier at Mission Beach for some very West Coast-inspired images. They obliged and true photography magic ensued to accompany the most beautifully neutral scenes.
I always like to mention to my couples that the success of their engagement and wedding photos is 80% me and 20% them. What does that even mean? My 80% emanates from my utilization of lighting, location choices, posing/direction, and efforts to make my couples comfortable.
Laura and Michael excelled profoundly in their 20% from being the ultimate team players: exhilarated and jubilant to have their photos taken, relaxed and not even remotely stressed, and trusting of my direction. When you enjoy your session and are excited to be there and be yourselves, your emotion will be so very beautiful!
After spending time on the neutral, soft sands of the beach, we walked back to the Catamaran for a few final portraits that were just as glorious as those from the pier and beach. These images beautifully feature the rich colors and dark blacks that pop in the background of the Catamaran’s property.
Laura and Michael, I am so excited to share these sneak peeks with you from your Mission Beach engagement session. It won’t be long before I blog some gorgeous sneaks from your wedding. Thank you both for being such incredible clients to work with. You made my job so easy and enjoyable!
